Just a week ago, a newly-wed bride was gang-raped in front of her family in Sheikhupura, Punjab. She had been married for just three days and the incident took place while she was heading back to her home with her mother-in-law and three other male family members.

Their rikshaw was intercepted by three individuals in masks. At first, it seemed like they were there to steal their belongings, including mobile phones, cash and jewelry. But, they then proceeded to gang-rape the bride.

They took her to a nearby field and after committing the heinous crime, the three rapists released her and returned everyone’s cellphones. However, they managed to flee the scene with the other valuables they stole from them.

In October 2020, another sexual assault case was reported in Zahir Pir city of Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan district. According to the reports, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by more than seven men.
