Not long ago, we found through a leak that Xiaomi has somehow snagged the exclusive rights to release Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC first (via Xiaomi 15). Now, another cycle of rumors foretells when and how this will happen.
A source shared some inside information with Digital Chat Station about Chinese devices and touted the arrival of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 smartphone. Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will probably go official in October. We guess that they will be the first to pack 8 Gen 4.
But October is still far, so anything can change until we get closer to the due date. To remind you of mid-October last year, Xiaomi 14 became one of the first devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, or at least in China, it maintained this achievement.

It’s a shame that wasn’t the case for global markets because of its late arrival in February MWC. The long stretch between the two launches caused most of us reviewers to lose interest.
With hopes that Xiaomi will change its strategy this year for the latest Xiaomi 5G model, here’s what the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC is supposed to perform like. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 hits a single-core score of about 2,700 and a multi-core score of roughly 10k at Geekbench.
Expect relatively high theoretical performance improvements both on the CPU & GPU, says the leaker. The main clocker inside the 8 Gen 4 will speed somewhere between 3.6 and 4.0GHz. As of yet, there’s nothing to report about its remaining core.
