The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally made contact with retired all-rounder Imad Wasim.
After the conclusion of the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), senior PCB officials have expressed their desire to meet with the all-rounder to discuss his future career prospects. As a result, Imad has been invited to the PCB headquarters in Lahore.
Imad’s outstanding performance in PSL 9 played a crucial role in Islamabad United securing their third title.
Sources reveal that Imad has accepted the invitation and is anticipated to meet with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and national chief selector Wahab Riaz.
Additionally, sources suggest that Wasim will be urged to rethink his retirement plans. Shaheen Afridi, the captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, also reached out to Imad, advising him to retract his retirement as his services are needed by the national team.
Despite his last T20 International appearance for Pakistan against New Zealand in Rawalpindi a year ago, Imad has consistently maintained that his retirement is not final and that he is open to returning to international cricket when necessary.
However, Imad is unwilling to reconsider his retirement until his concerns are addressed. He worries that he might be recalled to the team for a single series only to be sidelined once again.
