Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were not selected in The Hundred draft that took place on Wednesday.
They were added as late entries to the list of players who were eligible for this year’s men’s Hundred draft. Despite this, only three Pakistani players managed to secure contracts during the draft.
Naseem Shah was chosen by Birmingham Phoenix for the top price of £125,000. Welsh Fire chose Shaheen Shah Afridi for £100,000. Imad Wasim was picked by Trent Rockets for the same amount.
Ahead of the draft, two Pakistani players were already retained by their teams. Manchester Originals decided to keep spinner Usama Mir (£60,000) in their team, while Welsh Fire chose to retain fast bowler Haris Rauf (£75,000).
The fourth season of The Hundred is scheduled to start on July 23, 2024, with the defending men’s champions, Oval Invincibles, playing against Birmingham Phoenix.
